Boost your engine performance and durability with an HF-Series Catch Can Set.

Despite the diversion of oil and water vapours into the Catch Can, the emission values (Euronorm) are still complied with. In addition, the installation of the system makes the combustion cleaner. Normally, the oil and water vapours are fed into the intake bridge, where they are ignited and expelled in combination with the fuel-air mixture after entering the combustion chamber.

Thanks to the direct injection system of the TSI models, the cylinder heads and valves are no longer flushed with fuel. This means that the fuel regularly used for cleaning is missing, because it is injected directly into the combustion chamber. Thus, contamination by the exhaust gas recirculation in conjunction with the oil and water vapors from the crankcase ventilation builds up massively. These are deposited on the chambers of the cylinder heads and on the valves.

Due to these deposits, the material surface becomes rough, the air flow cross-sections narrow and there is neither an optimal air turbulence nor an optimal cylinder filling. The consequences are poorer exhaust gas values, power losses and higher consumption.

In the advanced stage, even the valve train is disturbed by these deposits, so that the valves sometimes no longer close and thus there is no compression on the affected cylinders, which leads to ignition failures. In the worst case, this can lead to engine damage.
